FACULTY OF TARBIYAH AND TEACHER TRAINING (FITK) is one of the oldest faculties in UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. FITK started from the Department of Religious Education at the Academy of Religious Sciences (ADIA) which was established on June 1, 1957. When ADIA in Jakarta and PTAIN (State Islamic College) in Yogyakarta were merged into IAIN Al-Jami'ah al-Islamiyah al-Hukumiyah in 1960, IAIN Jakarta Branch was given the task of managing the Faculty of Tarbiyah and the Faculty of Adab. Meanwhile, IAIN in Yogyakarta was given the task of managing the Faculty of Ushuluddin and the Faculty of Sharia. When it was founded, the Faculty of Tarbiyah had three departments, namely the Department of Religious Teacher Education, the Department of Arabic Language Teacher Education, and the Special Department (Army Imam). This last department, also called the Department of Da'wah wal Irsyad, merged with the Faculty of Ushuluddin when this faculty was founded in 1962.
